BSS starts free distribution of Solar Lights among students

JAMMU, Dec 29: The Bhartiya Shiksha Samiti (BSS), Jammu and Kashmir today launched its Solar Lights distribution campaign from Bhartiya Vidya Mandir (BVM) High School, Hiranagar in Kathua district. A total of 150 lights were distributed free of cost among the needy students and teachers.
Pradip Ji, BSS J&K Organizing Secretary, Ved Bhushan Ji, BSS J&K Chairman, Satish Mittal Ji, BSS J&K Treasurer, Master Mehar Ji, Regional Co-Coordinator on Environment and Pradeep Tripathi Ji, BSS J&K Prant Nirikshak were among the distinguished persons from BSS J&K who graced the occasion. The staff members, local BSS unit and several local prominent people were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Ved Bhushan Ji, BSS J&K Chairman informed that a total of 8077 solar lights worth Rs 1.8 crore were earmarked to distribute among the students hailing from BPL families of J&K and Ladakh UTs.
“We have seen that students from poor families were without light during the power cuts and finding to difficult to continue their studies in night time.
With the help of a philanthropist namely Braham Ratan Aggrawal, we have received these solar lights to facilitate the need of students and teachers,” he added.
Pradip Ji, BSS J&K Oragnizing Secretary while sharing his thoughts expressed that during the Covid-19 times many philanthropists came forward to help the suffering masses and even common masses exhibited great spirits in helping each other. He said, “Free distribution of solar lights among the students from BPL families is one such step in the same direction. The students residing in remote areas and those belonging to BPL families need proper lighting facilities during night time to continue studies and we are trying our best to mitigate their sufferings to some extent.
“We have 36 schools across J&K and Ladakh UTs, and the solar lights will be distributed at these places,” he added.
