Advisor Bhatnagar chairs meet on implementation of NEP-2020 in HED

JAMMU, Dec 29: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar today chaired a high level meeting of the Task Force Committee constituted for the smooth implementation of National Education Policy-2020 in Higher Education Department (HED) at Civil Secretariat here. The meeting was attended by Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir, Prof. Talat Ahmad; Vice Chancellor University of Jammu, Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar; Vice Chancellor, Central University of Kashmir, Prof. Mehraj Din; Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu, Prof.Ashok Aima; Vice Chancellor, SKUAST Jammu, Dr. J.P Sharma; Commissioner Secretary HED, Talat Parvez Rohella;Director IIM Jammu, Prof. B.S Sahay; Director IIT Jammu, Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur; Director NIT, Srinagar, Prof. Rakesh Sehgal; Director Colleges, J&K, Prof. M.Y Peerzada; former Directors of College, Prof. Z.A Chatt and Dr. Mohammad Yaseen; members of the committee besides Principals of various degree colleges of J&K and other concerned officials of the higher education department also participated in the meeting.
Speaking during the meeting, Advisor Bhatnagar maintained that the NEP-2020 aims at the development of Higher Education in all aspects like innovation, research advancements and other related fields which need timely interventions. He added that the needs of the country as well as J&K regarding the development of education sector will be met through this Policy.
Advisor Bhatnagar apprised all the members about realizing the basic vision of NEP 2020 and asked them to implement the policy in letter and spirit so that tangible results are obtained on ground.
He impressed upon the members to work cohesively and in synergy with each other and suggested them to co-opt members from other diverse fields for requisite expertise. The Advisor further emphasized on the members to create linkages between Higher Education and School Education Departments with regard to NEP-2020 so that several aspects of the policy can be implemented in cohesion with School Education department. The Advisor asked the members of the Committee to utilise their academic expertise and other available resources so that the goals of the Policy can be met and translated on the ground.
Advisor Bhatnagar further directed Commissioner Secretary HED to create NEP-2020 vision core group for working out on the specific contour of the Policy as per the need of the UT.
