SRINAGAR, Jan 2: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir is slowly but surely on the path of recovery in its fight against the Corona Virus as there are mere 2.46 percent active cases of the virus as on date.
There are 2,999 active cases of the virus as on date. The total number of cases in the union territory reached 1, 21,471 as 244 new cases of the virus were reported today. The death toll reached 1,885 as one death was reported from Kashmir valley in the past 24 hours or so.
Jammu district reported 78 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar district 46 cases, Anantnag district 17 cases, Baramulla district 16 cases, Shopian district 15 cases, Pulwama district 12 cases, Ganderbal district 11 cases, Kupwara district nine cases, Ramban district six cases, Budgam, Kathua and Poonch districts five cases each, Bandipora and Samba districts four cases each, Udhampur and Doda districts three cases each, Kulgam and Rajouri districts two cases each and Kishtwar district one case.
Budgam district in the Kashmir division reported one fresh virus related death while as no such death was reported from Jammu division. So far 1,187 people have died due to the virus in Kashmir valley while in Jammu division 698 such deaths have taken place up to this date.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 244 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 107 from Jammu division and 137 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 21,471. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 260 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 123 from Jammu division and 137 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 21,471 positive cases, 2,999 are active positive, 1, 16,587 have recovered and 1,885 have died; 698 in Jammu division and 1,187 in Kashmir division.
Out of 38, 85,403 test results available, 37, 63,932 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 8, 92,506 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 14,332 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 2,999 in isolation and 30,831 in home surveillance. Besides, 8, 42,459 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 25,422 positive cases, 581 active positive, 24,391 recovered, 450 deaths; Baramulla has 7,992 positive cases, 121 active positive, 7,699 recovered, 172 deaths; Budgam has 7,623 positive cases, 133 active positive, 7,381 recovered, 109 deaths; Pulwama has 5,592 positive cases, 162 active Positive, 5,342 recovered, 88 deaths; Kupwara has 5,546 positive cases, 123 active positive, 5,332 recovered, 91 deaths.
"Anantnag has 4,815 positive cases, 120 active positive, 4,612 recovered, 83 deaths; Bandipora has 4,654 positive cases, 54 active positive, 4,540 recovered, 60 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,491 positive cases, 89 active positive, 4,359 recovered, 43deaths; Kulgam has 2,666 positive cases, 64 active positive, 2,549 recovered, 53 deaths and Shopian has 2,519 positive cases, 103 active positive, 2,378 recovered, 38 deaths," reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 23,946 positive cases, 849 active positive, 22,742 recovered, 355 deaths; Udhampur has 4,092 positive cases, 57 active positive, 3,978 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,844 positive cases, 148 active positive, 3,642 recovered, 54 deaths; Doda has 3,391 positive cases, 43 active positive, 3,284 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,204 positive cases, 43 active positive, 3,112 recovered, 49 deaths.
"Samba has 2,765 positive cases, 193 active positive, 2,534 recovered, 38 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,720 positive cases, 21 active positive, 2,678 recovered, 21 deaths; Poonch has 2,451 positive cases, 30 active positive, 2,397 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,110 positive cases, 34 active positive, 2,055 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,628 positive cases, 31 active positive, 1,582 recovered, 15 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 21,471 positive cases in J&K, 11,315 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
