| Passengers irk as Chandak-Mandi PWD road is in shambles | | BJP, Department backing concern incompetent contractor, local allege | | Rajesh Tandon

Poonch, Jan 3: People of Sathra, Mandi and Loran blocks are suffering due to dilapidated condition of Chandak to Mandi PWD road as public allege that BJP and Public Works (R&B) is allegedly backing blue eyed contractor with government’s support.
According to the sources, the work for upgradation of this road was started three years before and contractor started upgradation and quit the work in the starting of 2019 for reasons unknown.
Locals of three blocks allegedly said, “although they have approached to district administration for restart of the work but administration is looking careless in this matter”.
It is pertinent to mention that the concerned contractor has joined his hands with ruling party BJP and is taking its shelter for embezzlement of billions as was contesting DDC election in recently going off election from Poonch.
The condition of this road and departmental back to contractor raise many questions and locals are accusing government for providing shelters to defaulters and anti public policies.
Wali Mohd a local said, “We have highlighted this matter through media to government but no action has been taken till now”. Another social worker and driver in this regard said, “Drivers have lost their vehicles on this road, and administration is looking careless in this regard”.
They said the road connects district headquarter to shrine of Sh Budha Amarnath Mandi too. They have appealed to Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to look into matter and provide better road facilities to the citizens. |
