Judicial, electoral reforms imperative for fast delivery of justice: AAP
1/24/2021 10:35:51 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 24: An interactive discussion was held in the office of J&K unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in its office at 635-A Gandhi Nagar Jammu between AAP members of core committee and agitating Lawyers Action Committee wherein various burning issues of public interest were deliberated.
The meeting felt the dire need of judicial and electoral reforms in J&K for speedy and transparent delivery of justice to the people in UT because the day dreams explicitly shown by the ruling dispensation are not at all visible on ground. Instead the miseries and complexities of common man have increased manifolds and ray of hope is not visible on the other side of the tunnel. The release further said that the government revenue due to the government on account of cost of judicial stamp papers etc is being incessantly delayed for its remittance into Government Treasuries thus contributing to the factors responsible for nose diving of GDP to minus 23.50 lower than Bangladesh and many more developing countries. It said that all promises made by PM Modi during 2014 elections, proved merely "Jumlas" which has badly shaken the faith of common man in the sincerity and efficacy of the government which is vividly visible during the current ongoing farmers' agitation.
While expressing moral support to the farmers' agitation, the release said that the farm laws were never demanded by the Farmer Union leaders and were passed by the government in a hush-hush manner through voice votes on the strength of its brute majority in the Parliament.
A battery of prominent lawyers, who attended the meet, included Advocate AK Sawhney, Advocate HC Jhalmeria, Advocate Meharban Singh and Advocate Gaurav Sharma. The meet was presided over by O.P Khajuria, AAP Convener Jammu Province and was attended by Farooq Ahmed Banday, Ram Singh Chauhan, Ravi Shastri, Mehar Singh, Raj Kumar Nischal, Amit Langer and Gurmeet Singh. The AAP leaders expressed full sympathy and support to the lawyers, agitating for last 100 days for the cause of issues of public interest.
