'Isolated' Mehbooba offers an olive branch to Centre ?
1/24/2021 11:40:25 PM

early times report
jammu, Jan 24: Apparently realizing that 'unnecessary' confrontation with the Union Government is not going to yield any desirable result, PDP president and former Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has offered an olive branch to the Centre.
PDP chief has used social media to give response to the Centre's initiative for the return of displaced Kashmiri Pandits to their native places.
As Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recalled a plan made by late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to take displaced Kashmiri Pandits back to their native places, Mehbooba seized this opportunity to offer an olive branch to the Union Government.
Unlike her previous posts, she responded positively to the Defence Minister's statement.
"Former J&K CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had laid out a plan for the return of Kashmiri Pandits. Unfortunately he passed away. We will work towards the return of Kashmiri Pandits" Defence Minister stated in an interview.
Responding to Rajnath Singh's statement, Mehbooba reacted, "Its always distressed Mufti sahab to see Kashmiri pandits forced to leave their homes. In his first stint as J&K CM he initiated the process of their return by building a conducive atmosphere. For him it went beyond rhetoric & he was committed to their dignified homecoming".
It is the first time abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A that Mehbooba Mufti has reacted positively to any statement of any Union Minister.
Political observers were of the opinion this tweet of Mehbooba Mufti was an indication that the PDP president has decided to avoid unnecessary criticism of the Union Government.
As reported earlier after Sajjad Lone dumped Gupkar Alliance and Dr Farooq Abdullah attended a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee (PSC) last week, Mehbooba Mufti has been isolated in the political scenario of J&K.
