EARLY TIMES REPORT
RAJOURI, Jan 29: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh Kumar Shavan today discussed the modalities for roll out/ implementation of One District One Product Programme, the component of the 'Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises' (FME) scheme, here at a meeting.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Khurshid; General Manager DIC, Manzoor Hussain; Chief Agriculture Officer, Mahesh Verma; Chief Horticulture officer, Madan Lal; Project Manager DIC, Akhil Nuvaid and District Officer KVIB, Abdul Aziz Wani.
The meeting was informed that under the umbrella of Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan, the FME scheme, through its targeted approach of 'One District-One Product', will provide a framework for value chain development and alignment of support infrastructure by identifying a unique food product per district, with a special focus on perishable items including agri-produce, cereal-based product, and a food product widely produced in the district.
It was further divulged that a total 35% subsidy with the ceiling of Rs 10 lakh per Unit will be offered for boosting the existing units and the new units of Micro Food Processing Enterprises.
The meeting was informed that District Rajouri has been identified as a dairy district under the scheme as it has a tremendous potential in the dairy sector.
Detailed deliberations were held during the meeting with the District Level Export Promotion Committee, like the role and responsibilities of the Committee; formulation of District specific Export Action plans in collaboration with all the relevant stakeholders at the District level. After a threadbare discussion, it was decided that milk and milk products including Ghee, Paneer, Khoya etc shall be promoted in the district.
The DDC asked the Chief Agriculture Officer to liaise with the Animal Husbandry Department to know the exact quantity of milk and milk products being produced in the district per day. He asked the concerned members of the Committee to work in close coordination for the promotion of the products decided in the meeting and make the district an export hub with the identified products.
