Former SMVDU vice-chancellor violated rules to appoint 'blue eyed' man as professor

early times report
jammu, Jan 29: Jammu, Jan 29: Former Vice-Chancellor of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) had allegedly appointed a blue-eyed unqualified man as a professor in the varsity.
Sources told Early Times that having a post graduate degree is mandatory even for the post of the assistant professor but the candidate in questions was appointed as the professor.
According to the insiders during the tenure of former Vice-Chancellor of SMVDU, a school had appointed a professor, who had not done his MA. "Instead of MA, he had done Ph.D and it was considered as a qualification but according to the rules it's not permitted," sources said, adding that the outgoing VC had even sanctioned four extra increments in his favour.
Sources disclosed that during the conduct of the interviews for the post of professor in the particular school, the blue-eyed candidate was the only shortlisted candidate while some others, who had Master degree as qualification in the relevant subject were not even called for the interview.
The sources said that the issue of appointing a blue-eyed person without having mandatory qualification was raked up in a recently held meeting of an enquiry team constituted by the UT administration to look into the allegations of corruption.
"The Lieutenant Governor administration has already tightened its noose around the corrupt officials across the UT and administration should also initiate further enquiry about the wrongdoings committed by the outgoing VC of SMVDU", sources said.
