CBI nabs In-charge Director ESIC Regional Directorate Jammu in bribe case

jammu, Jan 30: The sleuths of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday arrested Deputy Director, who is in-charge Director, Regional Directorate of Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) for demanding bribe from the complainant to settle his case.
A senior CBI official here said that acting on a complaint lodged wherein it was mentioned that the in-charge Director ESIC has demanded a bribe of Rs 2 lakh to settle his case of outstanding dues against the security agency run by the complainant.
"The Deputy Director (in-charge Director) identified as Darbara Singh, demanded bribe of Rs 2 lakh from the complainant to settle his case," a CBI official said.
He added that acting on a complaint, CBI conducted raids and caught him red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe.
He was also produced before the Court, said an official.
"Raids were also carried out at Chandigarh, Mohali and Jalandhar in this regard and property related documents and a cash of Rs seven lakhs was also seized," he said adding that during scrutiny of record seized, it was found that there were already several complaints against him and he has been demanding bribe from many persons to settle their matter by misusing his official position.
"Investigation into the matter is in progress and more arrests are on cards," he revealed.
