early times report
jammu, Jan 30: For the first time in the history of Jammu and Kashmir the Higher Education Department has transferred several blue-eyed teaching faculty members en-masse, who were stationed at city colleges since decades.
These teaching faculty members had remained untouched by the administration in total violation of the transfer policy despite change of popular governments as well as governors but this time they have been transferred.
According to transfer orders issued by the Higher Education Department in the last two days over two hundred teaching faculty members including Assistant Professors and Associate Professors have been transferred.
"Out of these transferred teaching faculty members, dozens of them had been stationed in city colleges since decades such as at Women Gandhi Nagar College, GGM Science College, Parade College, MAM College, Commerce College beside others. Many of them have been transferred to peripheral colleges for the first time," sources said, adding that these faculty members were the beneficiaries of the successive state government's appeasement policy for the blue-eyed college faculty members, who had close links with the administration.
Sources further said that the en-masse transfers affected by the Higher Education Department have left these blue-eyed teaching faculty members perplexed. "We congratulate the LG administration for transferring these teachers but there is a strong possibility that many of them will try their best to approach the administration to modify the transfer orders," sources said.
"Most of these college faculty members enjoy strong links in the power corridors due to which they had been managing their postings in the city colleges in total violation of the transfer policy of the government but for the first time their influence has not worked well", sources said, adding that the blue-eyed college faculty members have started mulling options to approach various officials to get their orders modified and there is an every possibility that modification orders would be issued by the department shortly to adjust these blue-eyed college faculty members.
We congratulate the LG administration for taking such an initiative but at the same time make an appeal not to allow modification of these orders by the Higher Education department, college faculty members said.
