Secy RDD reviews progress on development works in Jammu

JAMMU, Feb 10: Secretary, Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Sheetal Nanda, today exhorted upon the officers to step up efforts for expeditious completion of development works in Jammu.
Secretary issued these instructions while chairing a meeting held to review progress on RDD projects taken up under various Centrally Sponsored Schemes in the district.
The meeting was attended by Director RDD, Jammu, Sudharshan Kumar, Additional Secretary, Pran Singh, Joint Director (Planning), Subhash Chandra, Assistant Commissioner Development Jammu, Dr Amit Vermani, DPO, Abdul Khabir Assistant Executive Engineers and Block Development Officers.
During the meeting, several issues pertaining to MGNREGA, PMAY (G), RGSA and other flagship programmes were discussed threadbare.
While reviewing MGNREGA, Nanda stressed on further expanding the ambit of activities in convergence mode for benefit of the people. She emphasised timely payment of wages to workers. She instructed the ACDs to ensure that Fund Transfer Orders for wage be generated within 8 days and payments be made within 15 days as per stipulations of the Act.
It was informed that as many as 1169 works have been completed in the district during 2020-21 generating about 7.50 lakh person-days and providing employment to over 23000 persons.
She directed officers concerned for rationalisation of staff, field officers and field functionaries in the district. She also asked the officers to adhere to the timeline fixed for payment of wages, completion of works, geo-tagging and Aadhaar seeding.
While reviewing progress under PMAY (G), Secretary asked the officers to complete construction of houses within the stipulated timeline. She said that the housing-for-all scheme is the topmost priority of the Union government and J&K UT.
Earlier, a detailed presentation on overall functioning of the department in the district was given by ACD Jammu.
