No confidence motion against President MC Kishtwar, EO calls meeting of councilors on Feb 15

Jammu, Feb 10: After councilors from Peoples Conference, PDP, Apni Party, BJP and NC rebels joined hands together and submitted a No Confidence Motion against National Conference backed President Municipal Council Kishtwar Raiz Ahmed Zargar, Executive Officer MC Kishtwar today issued notice to all the 13 ward members of Kishtwar Municipality for holding a meeting to decide the fate of No Confidence Motion.
“This office has received a communication of No Confidence Motion dated 5-2-2021, duly signed by 8 ward councilors of MC Kishtwar calling to convene a special meeting to discuss the No Confidence Motion against Raiz Ahmed Zargar, President Municipal Council Kishtwar. In this regard I am directed to call a special meeting on 15-2-2021 at 3 PM in the office chamber of President Municipal Council Kishtwar. Accordingly all the elected ward councilors are requested to attend the meeting on schedule date, time and venue” reads the meeting notice issued by EO MC Kishtwar.
It is pertinent to mention that in the resolution in which the No Confidence motion was moved against the President MC Kishtwar, the signatories including BJP’s Drishta Gupta (member ward 10), Kulsum Begum (Member Ward No. 7) Rafiqa Begum (Member Ward No. 4), Shabir Ahmed Butt (Member Ward No. 9), Zahid Hussain (Member Ward No. 3), Ghulam Mohammad Butt (Member Ward No. 11), Maryam Begum (Member Ward No.1) had shown their support for the post of President MC Kishtwar to Peoples Conference District President Sajjad Ahmed Najjar who is councilor from Ward No. 6 and is also a signatory to the resolution.
After the revolt, NC has left behind with only three members while having the support of two Congress members.
