Crime Branch books ex-head cashier of treasury Reasi

Jammu, Feb 10: The sleuths of Crime Branch Jammu on Wednesday registered a formal criminal case against Ex-Head Cashier, Treasury, Reasi under the relevant provisions of law for his involvement in misappropriation of pension of rightful claimants to the tune of Rs more than Rs 25 lakhs by fraudulently transferring the amount into the bank account of his daughter-in-law and his personal account by way of misuse of his official position. The act amounts to criminal breach of trust.
Written communication was received in Crime Branch Jammu from Mohammad IqbalGanaie, Deputy Director (Central) Accounts and Treasuries, Finance Department, J&K, Jammu along with an inquiry report, revealing that Thakur Dass, Ex-Head Cashier, who was entrusted with the payment of pensions to the rightful pension holders and have domain over the Govt. Exchequer has deliberately and fraudulently credited an amount of Rs. 24,85,340/- into the account of his own daughter in law, Madhu Rani and has also transferred an amount of Rs 31,775/- into his personal account by misusing his official position, official spokesman here said.
He added that the accused who was entrusted with the job of payments to the rightful pension holders and have domain over the State Exchequer has deliberately and fraudulently misappropriated the said amount by committing criminal breach of trust and misusing his official position.
The omission and commission on the part of Thakur Dass, Ex-Head Cashier, Treasury, Reasi prima facie constitute offence punishable under relevant sections and accordingly, a formal criminal case is registered in Police Station Crime Branch, Jammu for in-depth investigation, he added.
