Withdraw new land laws to provide justice to Mahajan , Khatri communities
2/14/2021 12:03:21 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu , Feb 13: In order to provide justice to Mahajan and khatri communities, jammu Central Mahajan Sabha has urged the Administration of J&k UT to withdraw new land laws of October 26, 2020 and deletion of Section 133 H of J&K Land Revenue Act Samvat 1996.
In a letter to LG Manoj Sinha the JCMS president Romesh Chander Gupta has brougght to the notice that new land lawas were totally discriminating for the above said communities.
“On the very first day of your goodself while taking the charge of J&K, U.T. as Lt. Governor declared that ‘No bais genuine grievances will be listened and no one will face any discrimination in J&K.
The aim of administration would be to take development forward in the newly covered U.T. I have been given opportunity to play a role here. There won’t be any discrimination against any one. Constitutional powers will be used for the people’s welfare. It is my aim to take forward the development here”, letter reads
By the abrogation of Article 370, it was sincerely hoped that your honour, sir, will act impartially, will also be tasked with amplifying infrastructure, development in J&K. Your goodself is known to hold your juniors accountable for the work allotted to them the people for the job. A seasoned politician was the requirement (direly needed) for the State. It was felt in the high command and that only you can handle the public sentiments and administration with the same justice and integrity and a man who can connect with the masses. Sir, you have dealt with the nitty-gritty of telecom and Railways Ministries, the letter further reads .
According to amendment made to the J&K Land Revenue Act, Samvat 1996”. Only agriculturalist can purchase land. “No sale gift , exchange or mortgage if the land shall be vailed in favour of a person who is not agriculturist”, if reads:-
Govt. played conspiracy against Mahajan, (Vaishya Samaj), Khatri Community under New Land Laws. The order is prejudicial and totally against the spirit of the constitution. The constitution does not provide for caste based laws and order to favour one and harm the others.
It is a matter of strong discrimination that the communities have been kept way from the selling and purchasing agriculture land. We appeal to your goodself to look into the matter immediately and personally and remove this order of injustice in the new land laws of the U.T.
There is so great resentment and anger in the people of said communities that it can lead strong agitation in J&K and elsewhere in all over India, neither any state nor U.T. has bebared these communities for the sale purchase of agricultural land. Prior to this order Mahajans were in the profession of agricultural on their own land. By issuing the current order Govt. has totally debarred these communities to be agriculturist.
