District Mineral Officer Kulgam placed under suspension

Anantnag, Feb 16: The Geology and Mining Department today placed District Mineral Officer Kulgam under suspension after he was arrested by Awantipora Police for his alleged involvement in an extortion case.
“Pending enquiry into his conduct, Mr Khurshid Ahmad Dar, Chemist (District Mineral Officer Kulgam) is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect under sub rule (2) of Rule 31 of J&K Civil Services (classification, control and appeal) Rules 1956. During the period of suspension the officer will remain attached with the office of Joint Director, Geology and Mining Department Kashmir,” reads the order issued by Director Geology and Mining Department J&K.
In the order it has been mentioned that the officer was booked by Awantipora Police for his involvement in an extortion case. “Deputy Commissioner Kulgam vide his communication No. DCK/PA/2020-21/843-844 dated 15-02-2021 has confirmed that Dr Khurshid Ahmad Dar R/o Bellow Rajpora (District Minieral Officer Kulagm) has been arrested on 14-02-2021 by police and FIR No. 21/2021 u/s 341, 392 and 506 IPC has been registered in the matter,” reads the letter.
Important to mention here, a few days back, Police in nocturnal raid arrested District Minerals Officer, Kulgam in extortion however his accomplices involved in the case are evading arrest.
Police said that they had received a complaint from one person namely Hilal Ahmad Reshi son of Ghulam Mohammad Reshi of Letpora. In his complaint, he alleged that the driver of his Dumper bearing registration number JK13B 7892 driven by Arif Bhat son of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat of Letpora in Awantipora was robbed by District Minerals Officer Kulgam and some private persons during the intervening night of February 12 and 13 at Letpora in Pulwama district.
“They forcefully took away Rs 33,000 cash and made him transfer Rs 12, 000 to the account number 0200040100220195 belonging to one Amir Khan”, he stated.
