Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 16: Reacting on the careless attitude of the District Administration Jammu, the newly elected members of District Development Councils and Block Development Council of Jammu district boycotted the meeting called by the Jammu District Administration for allegedly not informing the concerned Chairman and Vice Chairman (VC).
The newly elected Chairman of District Development Council Jammu Bharat Bhushan, took strong notice of the negligent attitude of the District Administration Jammu for not informing about the meeting well in time and alleged that bureaucratic set up is hell bent to degrade the dignity of the Local Self Government and termed it “killing of democracy”.
Expressing his displeasure and anger against the behavior of administration, DDC Chairman Bharat Bhushan told Early Times that the Chief Planning Officer (CPO) Jammu had issued a letter No.- DDC/CPO/Meeting/2020-21/5799-5806 Dated 13-02-2020 wherein Chairman DDC Jammu was informed and asked to participate in a meeting convened by Deputy Commissioner Jammu regarding PMGSY roads in the district of Jammu.
He said that he didn’t receive any the message from administration, which was shocking for him. Although the DDCs, BDCs were informed but he as well as the Vice Chairman DDC were not informed about the proposed meeting, which brewed resentment among the DDCs, BDCs members who later also boycotted the meeting.
“I received a telephonically call from the District Administration on scheduled day to attend the meeting, which I refused for not informing me prior. Administration didn’t follow the right procedure to conduct a meeting ,” DDC Chairman said.
He further informed that in case any proposal regarding new roads is to be discussed, all the newly-elected members of District Development Council need to be taken on board and principally the matter should be discussed in a meeting of the District Development Council, Jammu wherein the Deputy Commissioner Jammu along with other concerned officers should be asked to remain present in the meeting.
