Jammu University Controversies
3/8/2021 11:37:07 PM
Jammu University violating its own order and continuing to entertain the degrees awarded by the study centers for making appointments is a serious issue which needs to be probed.
The JU in 2005 had issued a notification that the degrees issued by the different varsities through study centers except IGNOU are not valid. This order had led to the winding up of many centers of the varsities that were operating through distance mode in J&K.
It’s strange that despite it being clear that degrees obtained through study centers are invalid Jammu University has employed people on the basis of these degrees. Enquiry only can reveal how many appointments in the JU have been made after 2005 after the ban order was issued.
The people who have overlooked this aspect need to be identified and taken to task. The ones who have been employed on the basis of degrees obtained through study centers can end up losing their jobs as according to the rules they are not eligible.
The government departments and University of Kashmir do not entertain the degrees which are obtained through study centers. How come the JU has treated these degrees valid needs to be ascertained?
The chapter of study centers in J&K has been closed long back and there is no possibility about this being opened again as study centers of varsities offering various courses, including the professional courses, had cropped up in every nook and corner the erstwhile state. Students after getting degrees from such institutions had to face dejection as these degrees were not considered valid.
Despite being aware about all these fact the JU authorities have gone ahead and employed ineligible people.
By doing so JU has deprived the deserving aspirants of their due share, many of them would have crossed upper age limit by now and can’t even think about getting employed in Jammu University.
It appears that the JU needs complete overhauling as one or other thing about the varsity keeps on coming to fore every now and then. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Kumar Sinha needs to intervene to put the system on rails in the JU, which always remains surrounded in controversies.
People handling Jammu University should understand that they cannot take everything for granted.
They need to mend their ways as sooner or later they will be held accountable.
