Farooq hails Maharaja Hari Singh to invoke Dogra sentiments in Jammu
3/8/2021 11:44:42 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 8: To encash the prevailing anger among educated unemployed youth of Jammu region, former Chief Minister and president of National Conference (NC) Dr Farooq Abdullah today openly played Dogra card to warn people that their identity was under threat after abrogation of Article 370.
Dr Abdullah even hailed last Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh for introducing State Subject laws in erstwhile state of J&K in the year 1927 to protect interests of people of the state in general and Jammu region in particular.
“Those who were celebrated abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019 have now realized that they were cheated and betrayed”, former Chief Minister said while mentioning towards residents of Jammu region. “Within year after abrogation of Article 370, people of Jammu region have realized that they were cheated”, he observed.
“Its not Kashmir but identity of Jammu is under threat after J&K was stripped off its special status”, he warned and reminded the people that aim of Article 370 was to protect wishes and aspirations of the people of whole J&K.
To play pro-Jammu sentiments, Dr Abdullah hailed Maharaja Hari Singh for introducing State Subject provision in the year 1927. He lauded the farsightedness of Maharaja Hari Singh in bringing the State Subject Laws into effect in 1927 and said the Maharaja had brought these laws into effect to save the interests of those locals holding land and finding representation in the state administration as there were apprehensions of non-state subjects usurping the locals. Interestingly NC had earlier opposed the resolution passed in J&K Legislative Council to declare state holiday on September 23-the birthday of Maharaja. But now the same party is hailing Maharaja as ‘visionary’.
