Following 70 fresh cases COVID-19 positive cases reach 127114 in JK; one fresh death

SRINAGAR, Mar 8: The COVID-19 positive cases in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 1, 27,114 since 70 new cases came to the fore today. The death toll due to the virus reached 1963 with one death being reported from Jammu division in the past 24 hours.
Srinagar district reported 33 new cases of Corona Virus including 12 travelers followed by Jammu district 11 cases, Pulwama district seven cases, Baramulla district six cases, Budgam district five cases, Anantnag district four cases, Ganderbal district two cases and Kupwara & Bandipora districts one case each. No case was reported from 11 districts with a death reported from Jammu division.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 70 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 11 from Jammu division and 59 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1, 27,114. Also one COVID-19 death has been reported from Jammu division.
Moreover, 90 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 14 from Jammu division and 76 from Kashmir division. Out of 1, 27,114 positive cases, 871 are active positive, 1, 24,280 have recovered and 1,963 have died; 728 in Jammu division and 1,235 in Kashmir division.
Out of 54, 11,801 test results available, 52, 84,687 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 13, 55,337 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 31,944 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 871 in isolation and 1, 11,473 in home surveillance. Besides, 12, 09,086 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 27,323 positive cases, 401 active positive, 26,460 recovered, 462 deaths; Baramulla has 8,333 positive cases, 81active positive, 8,077 recovered, 175 deaths; Budgam has 7,931 positive cases, 48 active positive, 7,763 recovered, 120 deaths; Pulwama has 5,892 positive cases, 43 active positive, 5,759 recovered, 90 deaths; Kupwara has 5,701 positive cases, 16 active positive, 5,588 recovered, 97 deaths.
"Anantnag has 5,062 positive cases, 39 active positive, 4,935 recovered, 88 deaths; Bandipora has 4,722 positive cases, 13 active positive, 4,647 recovered, 62 deaths; Ganderbal has 4,680 positive cases, 14 active positive, 4,619 recovered, 47deaths; Kulgam has 2,743 positive cases, 19 active positive, 2,670 recovered, 54 deaths and Shopian has 2,614 positive cases, 20 active positive, 2,554 recovered, 40 deaths," reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 25,324 positive cases, 135 active positive, 24,813 recovered, 376 deaths; Udhampur has 4,319 positive cases, 17 active positive, 4,245 recovered, 57 deaths; Rajouri has 3,876 positive cases, 3,821 recovered, 55 deaths; Doda has 3,438 positive cases, 3,374 recovered, 64 deaths; Kathua has 3,266 positive cases, 3,207 recovered, 53 deaths.
"Samba has 2,841 positive cases, seven active positive, 2,794 recovered, 40 deaths; Kishtwar has 2,738 positive cases, two active positive, 2,714 recovered, 22 deaths; Poonch has 2,527 positive cases, seven active positive, 2,496 recovered, 24 deaths; Ramban has 2,135positive cases, 2,114 recovered, 21 deaths and Reasi has 1,649 positive cases, three active positive, 1,630 recovered, 16 deaths," reads the bulletin. Out of 1, 27,144 positive cases in J&K, 12,518 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
