| 3 yrs on, water ATMs yet to become functional in Udhampur | | |  Ashwani Sharma

Udhampur, Mar 19: Three sheds constructed by Municipal Committee Udhampur nearly three years ago to provide drinking water to the people 24x7 have not been made functional till date.
Sources told Early Times that these Any Time Water sheds were installed on the directions of then Director Local Bodies in 2017 at three places—MH Road Chowk, Sailan Talab Chowk and in front of Municipal Council office at Town Hall Udhampur.
“But these any time water centers just proved to be a cruel joke with the people as they remained defunct,” said, Ashish Bhagat, a local shopkeeper.
“Summer season is all set to commence and these any time water sheds could have been of great help. Many people visit the town daily and filtered water at a reasonable price would have helped them quench their thirst,” Bhagat added.
Sources informed that if these water stations become functional a can of mineral water would have costed Rs 1 or 2.
When contacted Dr Yogeshwar Gupta, president MC Udhampur said he has talked to the company head that has installed the water ATM and within a few days the facility will be made operational.
Locals have urged upon the Director Local Bodies to intervene so that the facility gets functional soon. |
