Move to rename Ambedkar Chowk will be fought tooth & nail: Harsh Dev
Suppression of weaker sections unacceptable
3/20/2021 12:34:35 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Mar 19: Strongly condemning the attempts being mode by certain organizations to change the name of Baba Saheb B.R Ambedkar Chowk in Jammu, Harsh Dev Singh JKNPP Chairman and former Minister said that all such nefarious designs of the divisive forces would be fought tooth and nail. He regretted that some vested political interests were desperate to rename the projects earlier named after Baba Saheb and a proposal had also mooted in this regard in the Municipal Corporation meeting. This was most shameful and condemnable step. It was wholly unacceptable and any such move would be fought tooth and nail”, said Harsh Dev. He was addressing a press conference here today.
Speaking to media persons, Harsh Dev said that Baba Saheb B.R Ambedkar was a great legal luminary and a philanthropist who made gigantic and unparalleled contributions in the sphere of democratic jurisprudence. He has given us a constitution which acknowledged the rights of all Indian citizens irrespective of caste, creed, color and religion. Any attempt to downplay his role or to lower his image was not only
Accusing the BJP leadership of showing disrespect to the father of Indian constitution, Singh strongly flayed the highly vituperative and derogatory language used against Baba Saheb by a BJP leader of Ramnagar in social media yesterday. He said that the BJP leader’s statement had sparked massive outrage in Ramnagar and Udhampur but no action was being taken against him due to political patronage of the ruling party.
“The matter could snowball into a major issue if the delinquent was not booked immediately. Earlier also, the said BJP leader along with his other party colleagues had assaulted and abused the members of SC community. Several reports of misbehaviour and assaults on SC members including females by these BJP goons had gone unattended which had emboldened such notorious characters”, alleged Singh.
Describing Baba Saheb B.R Ambedkar as the true champion of the poor, weaker and marginalized sections of society, Singh said that any attempt to suppress the weaker sections and disrespecting their idols would be vociferously resisted and countered.
Parshotam Parihar (State Secretary-JKNPP) and Surinder Chouhan (District President Jammu Rural of JKNPP) were also present in the press conference.
