JAMMU, Mar 25: In another negligenceexposing the poor state of health affairs in Kishtwar District, a 5 year old girl died after the Public Health Centre (PHC) was found locked resulted into loss of precious time forcing the District Development Council (DDC) member to seal the health centre in presence of the local people.
As per the details available with Early Times, 5 year old Asifa, daughter of Mohammad Hussain, R/o Pathernaki in Nagsini block of Kishtwar District was ill from last few days and her parents took her to PHC Kerru after her health related issues worsened, but surprisingly they found the hospital locked.
Speaking to Early Times, DDC Member Nagsini Faisal Hussain informed that when they tried to shift the unwell minor girl to District Hospital Kishtwar, they surprisingly found that the ambulance kept in the hospital premises is without fuel forcing them to shift the minor to District Hospital in a private vehicle, adding that the time wasted at PHC Kerru later become the cause of the death of 5 year old Asifa at District Hospital Kishtwar.
“We took her to hospital in private vehicle since the hospital was locked and ambulance was without fuel. The time wasted resulted into her death. We again took her body back to home from Kishtwar hospital in same private vehicle,” said Faisal Hussain.
DDC member said that he in presence of the locals put the seal on the already locked PHC building, adding that it is unfortunate that no doctor was available at the PHC Center. He said that the people demanded action against the doctor and other staff posted at this PHC centre. “People are losing its faith on the government run institutions. We know that nothing is going to happen since the department always helps their own men in getting the clean chit,” said Faisal. He urged upon the government to provide compensation to the poor victim’s family beside also urged the government to provide doctors in health centres in Nagsini block of Kishtwar District.
