Questioning by ED: Mehbooba faces 'tough' queries regarding huge funds received by PDP

Early Times Report
jammu, Mar 25: Former chief minister and president of the PDP Mehbooba Mufti today faced 'very tough' queries of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding huge funds generated by her party from the 'undisclosed' sources.
As ED accepted her request to appear at Srinagar instead of Delhi, Mehbooba this morning reached Raj Bagh office of the organization at 11 am.
Reliable sources told The Early Times that questioning of the ED officials revolved around huge amount recovered from the residence of Mehbooba's close aide Anjum Fazli.
The ED had seized over Rs 28 lakh case after it raided the premises of Fazli, who was nominated as MLA by Mehbooba Mufti from the quota of female MLA. It was reported that after conducting raids at the residences of Fazli in Srinagar and Delhi, central agencies have virtually reached near Mehbooba Mufti because Fazli is like a shadow of the former chief minister.
It was only after Fazli's questioning that the ED had decided to call Mehbooba for further queries. "Questioning was not confined only to Rs 28 but the ED officials also raised queries about huge amount received by the PDP from undisclosed resources", sources said.
Mehbooba was earlier served a notice to appear at the ED headquarters in the national capital.
On March 19, the Delhi High Court had refused to stay summons issued to her after she moved the court seeking quashing of the summons in the case.
The ED, which had earlier summoned Mufti March 15, had not insisted on her personal appearance at that time.
Meanwhile Mehbooba said that the dissent has been criminalized in the country, saying that there will be no change in the party's strategy over fighting for the rights of people including the restoration of Article 370.
"One who speaks against you (Government of India) is being either booked under seditious charges or being summoned by the investigative agencies," Mehbooba said after nearly five-hour long questioning by the ED.
"I was questioned about my father's property in Bijbehara, which we have sold out and was asked how you sold it and other related things. Second about the funds during her tenure as Chief Minister," she said.
Mehbooba further stated that there will be no change in the party's stance over the fight for the rights of Jammu and Kashmir people especially regarding the restoration of Article 370.
