In view of sharp rise, DM imposes night curfew in Baramulla district

BARAMULLA, Apr 9: The District Magistrate issued an order of night curfew that will be imposed from today in Baramulla district to contain the spread of Noval CoronaVirus as there has been a resurgence of positive cases for which new guidelines and restrictions have come into force.
104 new positive cases were reported today in Baramulla district, second highest after Srinagar district in the UT of J&K, thus to avoid unnecessary roaming during night, curfew has been imposed all around the districts.
According to an order no: 02/DMB/of 2021 dated 09-04-2021 that reads in pursuance of the directions of union government and UT government various precautionary measure and advisories with regard to restriction on the movement of people/vehicles and enforcement of preventive measures were issued from time to time by this office for prevention of the spread of COVID-19 infections in the district Baramulla.
Whereas in view of surge in COVID-19 infections, fresh guidelines/instructions were issued by the J&K Government vide its order no: 16-JK (DMRRR) of 2021 dated 08-04-2021.
Now therefore, in pursuance of the fresh guidelines/instructions issued on the subject, I Bhupinder Kumar, District Magistrate Baramulla in exercise of powers vested in me under 144 of Cr, Pc, do hereby impose night curfew from 10 pm to 6 am within the municipal limits (urban area) of Baramulla, Sopore, Pattan, Uri, Kunzar, Tangmarg, and Watergam town of district Baramulla.
However in case of medical emergency the police/security forces deployed at different nakas for the purpose shall allow the concerned after due security/document check.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Bhupinder Kumar today chaired a meeting with the religious heads and other concerned stakeholders in order to discuss various means and measures for combating the challenge of COVID-19 pandemic.
The meeting was convened in view of the sharp rise of COVID-19 cases so as to take necessary anticipated measures in this regard.
On the occasion, a comprehensive discussion was held wherein the concerned stakeholders presented their feedback and suggestions with regard to the issue.
The DC emphasized upon these heads to play a proactive role and cooperate with the administration during these critical circumstances emerged due to the pandemic.
He added that religious heads enjoy a special and respectable position in the society and they can easily motivate the people to abide by the requisite SOPs and guidelines.
