Raise extra loan to meet new covid challenge
4/10/2021 12:51:37 AM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 9: Citizen's Forum has reminded J&K UT government that effect of lacking the necessary financial sources in J&K during past many years and particularly during the first phase of Covid -19 the governments' response to match the medical arrangements to meet the pandemic was not up to the challenge. Poor state of health resources and equipment with pilferage and other shortcomings made the covid patients a journey through the hell. People of J&K UT are dreaded to pass through same situation.
R K Chadha president citizen's forum said now with spike in J&K with alarming intensity the people who have not been vaccinated as required till date may suffer an onslaught of covid like other states in the country. And also once again the business of middle and poor class is going to suffer without any help from any quarter. RBI Governor has categorically announced there will be no loan moratoriums at present. We remember how small business suffered in hands of Bank Managers in giving 10-20% loans to run their household during the pandemic Lock downs. We don't doubt integrity and capacity of the UT government to face the pandemic but it needs adequate financial resources to meet both challenges at minimum. CF request UT government to raise extra loan like other states to meet this draconian challenge to save the lives and livelihood of people. If need be the long term projects should be deferred for some time to utilize the funds to meet pandemic necessities.
