RAMBAN, Apr 9: A Training session on Foot and Mouth Disease Control Programme (FMD-CP) was today held here for Veterinarians.
The training session was conducted by the Livestock Development Board, Jammu for the Veterinarians and Para-Veterinary staff under the National Animal Disease Control Programme.
The programme was presided over by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) LDB, Jammu, and attended by the doctors and field staff of Animal and Sheep Husbandry Departments.
Speaking on the occasion, the CEO LDB said that the vaccine is of utmost importance and the disease is targeted to be controlled upto 2025 which will help to double the farmers' income as the disease causes huge loss of productivity of the livestock. He said the virus spreads to very large distances in a short span of time and takes a heavy toll of the livestock.
Experts of the Livestock Development Board trained the staff regarding ear tagging, registration of the tagged animals on INAPH portal and vaccination of the registered animals. The vaccination programme is a door to door programme and daily monitoring of the vaccination status will be done by authorities.
