CF seeks alternate day closure of all markets instead of few shops
4/22/2021 9:25:45 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Apr 22: Citizens’ Forum (CF) has received certain suggestions from various Shopkeepers’ Associations of Jammu to be placed before LG Manoj Sinha and Divisional Commissioner Jammu to change the new lockdown system of alternate day closure of shops. They requested that instead the authorities should change it to alternate day opening/closure of all bazaars and shops.
The reason quoted is the customer coming for shopping cannot complete their full shopping as one item if available at one shop the other item is not available because it could be closed on the same day. President Citizens’ Forum, R K Chadha said that this being marriage season shopkeepers are already not getting good sales while the customers have to buy different items for the ceremony and due to Covid conditions do not want to come out time and again. He said that one full day closure of markets will be more beneficial for lockdown purposes than haphazard closing. Moreover customers are coming from far off places and villages, they get harassed and waste their time and day. We feel the demand is genuine and suitable for all, Chadha added.
