Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 22: The high-level meeting convened by Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr. Raghav Langer on Wednesday evening is clear indication that J&K Government is going to fix rates in private hospitals so that poor people can also get treatment in these health institutes.
As of now private hospitals in J&K in general and Jammu province, in particular, are ‘out of reach of common people due to exorbitant rates being charged by the management.
Reliable sources said that during the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner made it clear to the management of these hospitals that they have to slash their rates in the interest of the people.
Not only private hospitals are asked to reduce their rates, but the management of these institutes also have been directed share regular details of bed occupancy with Managing Director, National Health Mission (NHM) and Director Health Services on regular basis.
Authorities in J&K have decided to cap rates being charged by the private health institutes, across the UT, so that common people would approach these hospitals for treatment.
Taking a note of the allegation that that during the first wave of Coronavirus management of these private institutes had denied permission to common people, Divisional Commissioner directed private institutions to share regular details of bed occupancy with Managing Director, National Health Mission (NHM) and Director Health Services, on daily basis.
Keeping in view the surge in Covid-19 cases in recent times and to keep all possible facilities in place for treatment of Corona positive cases, the Divisional Commissioner directed private hospitals to increase their bed capacity for infected patients with all necessary facilities like ICU, ventilators, etc.
