DH Udhampur faces acute shortage of docs

Udhampur, Apr 29: At a time when the entire world is grappling with deadly COVID-19 pandemic, the hope of lakhs of people the District Hospital of Udhampur is facing the acute shortage of doctors.
Sources said the medical institution faces shortage of physicians, Anaesthesia doctors which directly hits the hopes which the sick people pins to DH Udhampur. They also said that there are only two physicians to cater to the need of a large number of population as the hospital being situated at district headquarters.
There are only three anaesthesia doctors at the hospital, sources said adding that the two physicians at the hospital manage general OPD, emergency and also COVID wards and face a lot of difficulties as they are overburdened.
“Earlier there were four physicians in the hospital but after one among them retired and the other got transferred, only two are left while the minimum requirements of the hospital is 3-4 physicians,” sources said adding that same is the situation of anaesthesia doctors the minimum requirement for which is five.
CMO Udhampur K C Dogra didn’t pick up the phone despite repeated calls for comments.
