Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 29: The lackadaisical approach of the School Education Department could be gauged from the fact that over 400 lecturers, who were elevated in the month of July 2019, have not been adjusted by the department so far.
Though the Administrative Secretary of the School Education Department had in the month of January, entrusted the Director Finance of the Department to sort out the issue within 15 days but after a lapse of over three months, the issue has not been sorted out.
According to the lecturers, almost 2600 masters and teachers in both the regions of Jammu as well as Kashmir were promoted by the department to the level of In-charge lecturers in the month of July 2019 in various disciplines. Majority of the promoted lecturers were adjusted by the respective Directorates but around 400 of them are still not adjusted by the department and maximum of these were from Kashmir region.
The in-charge lecturers said that as the Directorates were in the process of adjustment, a circular was shot from the Administrative department debarring the Directorates to do any business with the gazetted cadre. “Since the issuance of the circular by the Administrative Department, the maximum of the promoted teachers/masters had already been adjusted but due to the callous attitude of some officials at DSEK, pending posting files of around 400 were returned back to the Administrative department for adjustment”, the in-charge lecturers said.
They said that they took up the matter with the Administrative Secretary, following which the Administrative Secretary had issued an order vide No 13 of Edu on 8th January 2021 wherein Director Finance School Education Department was given the task to sort out the pending postings of lecturers in the light of Govt order 940 Edu of 2017 dated 17/11/2017.
“The Director Finance was directed to complete the process within 15 days but after a lapse of around three months, there was no headway in the matter”, the lecturers said. Lamenting the alleged callous attitude of the department, they said the in-charge lecturers promoted in the same order, having the same nomenclature of the degrees, as well as degrees from the same universities from Jammu division were adjusted 18 months back but in Kashmir division they have been suffering for no fault of theirs.
