Mayor distributes food items, face masks to needy people

Jammu, May 21: In view of the prevailing situation arisen due to outbreak of COVID-19, Chander Mohan Gupta Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation alongwith prominent citizens of Shiv Nagar today distributed various food items, packaged drinking water, as well as face masks among the attendants of the patients admitted in Govt. Medical College Bakshi Nagar Jammu and poor & downtrodden persons near GMC Hospital, Jammu.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that due to continuous lockdowns imposed by the Govt. keeping in view the spike in cases of this deadly disease, the persons who are daily earners as well as attendants/visitors coming in the hospital to take care of the patients are facing great hardships and unable to get any type of essential food items due to continuous shutdown of the eatable establishments/rehries.
He further said that he is committed and taking every type of initiatives so that maximum food/ essential items may be provided to these daily earners on routine basis during this crucial period of lockdown. He also appealed to all the social organizations, NGO’s as well as eminent citizens of Jammu to come forward for this noble cause to provide food and other essential commodities to the needy, poor and daily wagers residing in their surroundings during this tough time.
