5/22/2021 11:52:34 PM

Early Times Report

Udhampur, May 22: The government has an ambitious plan to connect a country through mobile phones and internet, but there are many areas in J&K where mobile connectivity is still a dream for the people.
Over thirty five hundred people in more than 10 Villages like Chill, Seri, Lappa, Santha, Ghar, Katyias Chill, Thildu, Paddar, Panchond-2 and many other areas have poor networks. In Dudu Tehsil of district Udhampur there has never been network coverage. Signals are poor to non-existent, smartphones are useless.
Moreover students from these remote villages of the district Udhampur are facing difficulties in attending online classes due to the lack of Internet connectivity. In several remote villages telecommunication services are poor.
While talking to Early Times Pradeep from Katiyas village said that in the age of technology and due to COVID -19 pandemic students are unable to access the internet and are not able to attend the online classes.
Another local, Sunil Kumar said that due to the non-availability of telecommunication services employees of different departments face a lot of hardships to pass on important messages. “People in many villages have given up hope about their areas getting mobile connectivity,” Kumar said.
“Education is not meant for people like us; it is for those who can buy a phone or a laptop or live in urban areas, I believe that poor children could study alongside the rich ones, but my beliefs are dying by the day,” he added.
