Srinagar, May 29: A woman, who was seriously injured in a mysterious blast in the frontier district of Kupwara, also succumbed to her injuries in a Srinagar hospital on Saturday, two days after her daughter was killed, official sources said. Sources said that the duo -- identified as 19-year-old daughter Gulnaza Banu and 49-year-old Sara Begum – on Wednesday had gone to nearby forest to collect some vegetables in village Sharkoot vilgamin Amargrh, Handwara, in Kupwara. “The mother-daughter duo found a dead shell in the forest and apparently brought it to their house with vegetables ,” they said. They said on Thursday when they opened the vegetable bag, the shell inside it exploded, resulting in critical injuries to them. “They were rushed to a hospital, where Gulnaza was declared brought dead,” they said. They said Sara Begum was referred to Srinagar hospital in a critical condition. However, she succumbed today, they said adding police has already registered a case and initiated proceedings.
