Police, army foiled weapon smuggle in forward area of Tangdhar | | | S Tahir-ul Haq

KUPWARA, May 29: Police today claimed to have foiled an attempt by militants to smuggle a huge cache of weapons at forward Jandi in Tangdhar sector of this north Kashmir district. The Kashmir range of Jammu & Kashmir Police in a tweet said that, Kupwara police along with army in an operation at the forward Jandi Tangdhar sector in Kupwara thwarted an attempt by militants to smuggle the weapons. A police spokesperson said that acting upon a specific information regarding weapon smuggling, a search operation was conducted by Kupwara Police and Army (2 JAT) in the Forward Jabdi Tangdhar area falling in the jurisdiction of PS Karnah. During the search operation a huge cache of arms and ammunition including three AK-47 rifles with six magazines and four Pistols with nine magazines were recovered, the police spokesperson said. He said that in this regard a case vide FIR No. 53/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Karnah and further investigation has been taken up. The timely recovery of a huge cache of arms and ammunition has thwarted any possible untoward incident in an otherwise peaceful region and has scuttled the nefarious plans of militant outfits to try derailing peace and harmony, said police. Police also said that searches were intensified in the area to nab any type of anti national activity, while according to them it was a continued demonstration of Preventive intelligence by JK Police. |
