JAMMU, May 29: Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha on Saturday inaugurated the Defence Research and Development Organisation’s (DRDO) 500-bedded Covid Hospital and dedicated the facility to Jammu. After the inauguration of the hospital, a trial run has started in this institute which is going to give big relief to the people. Instead of shifting Covid patients in the hospital after its inauguration, higher-ups in the health department have started a trial run. It is stated that the formal functioning of the hospital will be started within couple of days after completion of the trial run. Authorities of the DRDO have fulfilled their commitment of completing the hospital within the shortest time of 20 days but it is all due to failure of the health authorities that formal function of the hospital could not s LG thanks PM, HM, Defence Minister Of the total 500 beds here at Bhagwati Nagar Centre, 125 would be Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds, while others would be a set of covid- beds with 24 hours oxygen facility. Speaking on the management of ongoing pandemic and future challenges, the Lt Governor observed that the DRDO hospital, with an efficient mechanism will play an important role in adding to the government’s efforts in the fight against Covid pandemic. “I must congratulate and appreciate Chairman, DRDO Dr. G Satheesh Reddy and his entire team working round-the-clock to build this well-equipped medical facility in record time”, the Lt Governor added. art after its inauguration. Reliable sources in the health department said that it was all due to delay in recruiting para-medical staff that formal functioning of this much-required hospital has been postponed for a couple of days. “Para-medical staff was appointed in a hasty manner so it will take time to properly train the staff to handle such sensitive hospitals”, sources said and added that handling highly sophisticated machines is not possible for newly recruited staff so their proper training was must. As reported earlier, authorities of Government Medical College Jammu issued had recruitment notice on May 20 despite the fact that DRDO had started construction of the hospital at Bhagwati Nagar in the first week of May but authorities of GMC Jammu have against adopted casual approach in recruiting staff for the same. |
