Chenani, May 29: Govt. Degree College, Chenani under the aegis of Manodarpan Initiative of MHRD, Govt. of India, Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and Career Counseling Cell organised an online test on Career Aptitude on 29th May 2021 to help the students in narrowing down their job choices and choose a career path that is compatible with their interests, skills, values, and personality. The purpose of this online test was to help students understand how a variety of personal attributes (i.e., data values, preferences, motivations, aptitudes and skills) impact their potential success and satisfaction with different career options and work environments. A set of questions was prepared and circulated through Google form link. The experts in the Career Counseling Cell analyzed the responses and found that the Career in the sciences was moderately preferred by the students. Most of the students had no highly preferred occupation. Creativity was not associated with student’s academic performance while the rest such as, general scholastic aptitude (science ability, reading comprehension, verbal ability and mathematical ability), technical-vocational ability (clerical skill and visual manipulative skill), non-verbal ability, logical reasoning ability, and entrepreneurial skill (planning and decision making, budgeting, marketing and forecasting) were positively correlated to student’s performance. The study indicated that mathematical ability, verbal ability and logical reasoning ability were predictors of student’s academic performance. |
