Jammu, May 29: The executive leadership of Jammu and Kashmir National Pension Scheme Employees United Front (JK-NPSEUF) under their President Mohd Asraf and Chairman Ashwani Sharma today conducted a virtual meeting wherein the leadership appealed the Lieutenant Governor J&K for extending the benefits of Old Pension Scheme in favour of the families of the NPS employees who have passed away due to Covid-19. The leadership expressed that under NPS , their families will not be able to receive adequate pensionary benefits to meet basic needs, old pension scheme if implemented for such deceased employees will provide necessary relief and will save them from financial crisis. The forum leadership also sought the restoration of Voluntary General Provident Fund (GPF) contribution for employees working under National Pension Scheme. The government has recently issued orders discontinuing the GPF contribution and permanent closure of GPF accounts of nearly 1 lac NPS employees debarring them from the benefits of GPF. The forum believes that GPF contribution made by employees enables them to meet any financial exigencies and in absence of GPF accounts, NPS employees and their families will face countless hardships. The leadership also extended gratitude to the Lieutenant Governor J&K UT for recent issuance of orders regarding the hike in monthly Govt. contribution in NPS to 14% from existing 10%. The President Mohd Ashraf stated that the LG administration is serious and responsive in addressing the issues of NPS employees and leadership has high hopes that sympathetic consideration will also will be given to these grave issues. The meeting was attended by Rohit Sharma, Mohd Rafiq Maliq, Raman Sharma, Ajeet Singh, Gulzar Ahmed Chopan, Sheikh Shabir Kulgami, Mohinder Goswami, Hilal Ahmed Baba, Surinder Kaith, Mohd Hussain,Ragbir Singh, Neeraj Raina, Mohd Ibrahim, Yaser Naumani, Shahnawz Ahmed Koka, Neetan Kalyin, Manjeet Singh, Manpreet Singh, Farooq Ahmed Matto, KD Singh, Amit Sharma, Sushil Sharma, Tanveer Ahmed Khanday, Sartaj Ahmed, Zahoor Ahmed, Varinder Singh and Shabir Hussain. |
