Pollution Control Committee, Reasi conducts public hearing

Reasi, June 26: A public hearing for the environmental clearance of Minor mineral mining Block no. 26 in River Chenab Downstream Baradari Bridge, Kans Khosan Area, at village Kans Khosan, Tehsil Pouni District Reasi was organized today by J & K Pollution Control Committee.
Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Reasi Abdul Star, JKAS presided over the entire proceedings of the Public hearing. The other members of the panel comprised of representative of Regional Director, J & K Pollution Control Committee, Angrez Singh, Divisional Officer, PCC Samba South; District Mineral Officer, Reasi Rakesh Kumar and Divisional Officer, Pollution Control Committee, Reasi Hansraj Singh Galoach.
The Environmental Consultant of M/s P & M Solution Prateek Shukla representing the project proponent briefed the audience about the details of the proposed mining blocks including the mining method and anticipated impact from the mining in the area and the measures proposed under Environment Management Plan and Corporate Environmental Responsibility.
Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Reasi in his address assured the public that genuine concerns of the locals vis-à-vis availability of minor minerals for construction of houses under PMAY, safety of adjoining lands and all other issues raised during public hearing shall be appropriately addressed. BDC Chairman Pawan Kumar, DDC Member Pouni Reeta Sharmal, Sarpanches and Panches also addressed the Public.
An online poster (Say No to Drugs) and pledge card making (Share facts on drugs, Save Lives) competition was held to commemorate ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’, under the supervision and guidance of Principal Prof. Aekta Gupta.
The programme was organised by NSS unit, GDC Marh, in collaboration with De-drug Addiction and Psychological Cell under the agies of Azadi ka Maha Amrit Mahostava.
About 90 students have made pledge cards in Dogri, Hindi, English by hand, in digital writing and through pictures, slogans thereby spreading the message about de-drug addiction and trafficking. Ayush Kumar of BA Sem II has expressed the ill effects of drug use in his melodious voice by rapping a song. E- Certificates shall be given to the participants.
Principal, Prof. Aekta Gupta congratulated all the winners as well as the participants for their participation and appreciated the valuable efforts of Organising committee. All the faculty members motivated the students for spreading the message ‘Say No to Drugs’. The event was organised and coordinated by Asha Kumari, Shallu Gupta, Sachin Kumar Bhagat, Satish Kumar and Shakun Sharma. The technical support was provided by Dr. Saqib Bashir.
In poster making competition, Simran Kumari of BA Sem II, Mansi Gupta of B.COM Sem II were adjudged first and second, the third position was bagged by Arpit Gupta of BA Sem IV. Three consolation prizes were given to Muskan Chib, Bhawani and Tania Sharma of BA Sem II. Komal and Sakshi Bhagat of BA Sem II beautifully expressed their views by writing poems on drug addiction.
