Govt makes mockery of power crisis in Jammu

Jammu, June 30: In an apparent embarrassment, the government seems to be confused on how to tackle power crises in Jammu as the concerned have ordered probe and more cuts in the supplies, alike.
Whereas on June 16, during a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha assured the people of Jammu division that a Committee will be constituted by the Chief Secretary to enquire into the recent unscheduled power outage in various areas, the power department continues to announce more cuts on one pretext or the other.
“Unscheduled power cuts that Jammu faced was not normal. That's why, I have asked the Chief Secretary, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta to constitute a committee to enquire into the matter and those found responsible should be given the highest punishment as permissible under the law. I want to assure the people that your sweat will not go in vain and officers responsible for your suffering will be punished soon," the Lt Governor recently said.
The power cuts in hot summer that too when several Covid patients are undergoing treatment at home need oxygen supply from concentrators has been prompting the medical health experts to press the panic button.
But a day after the Lieutenant Governor said that officers responsible public sufferings due to power crises would be punished, on June 17, the Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited announced more cuts in two separate handouts. And since then at least four new curtailment or shutdown schedules were announced within week.

upply to Kot, Bhalwal, Karwanda, Ghaink, Sehri, Barn Patta, Marhali, Central Jail and adjoining areas shall remain affected on June 18 from 10 am to 3 pm.
Similarly, the power supply to Tanda, Chowki Choura, Kathar, Daskal, Balli Gulaba, Maira Mandrian, Nathal, Jarhal Sangal and adjoining areas shall remain affected on June 18 from 10 am to 3 pm.
On same June 17, the Superintending Engineer, O&M Circle, Jammu JPDCL, in a separate handout informed that to execute work of reconductoring with Dog Conductor, the power supply to Greater Kailash and its adjoining areas shall remain affected on June 19 from 6 am to 11 am.
Likewise, the power supply to Channi Himmat and its adjoining areas shall remain affected on June 21 from 6 am to 11 am.
Similarly, the power supply to Digiana and its adjoining areas shall remain affected on June 20 from 6 am to 11 am.
Meanwhile, Superintending Engineer, Operation and Maintenance Circle, Rajouri (JPDCL) has informed that for charging of PTR under DDUGJY Scheme, the power supply to areas of Chandak, Mandi, and Loran shall remain affected on June 18 from 11.30 am to 2 pm. The Superintending Engineer (Distribution) JPDCL, O&M Circle, Kathua has informed that for installing 11 KV cable in dedicated 11 KV panel for KK Gas Plant and shifting of Auxillary Cable at R/Stn Hatlimorh, the power supply to Janglote, Chack Ludan, CTM-II, Kathua-III and adjoining areas shall remain affected on June 18 from 7 am to 11 am.
Similarly, for laying of LT Cable, the power supply to Super Bazaar, Shahidi Chowk, Nagri Bus Stand, Old Sabzi Mandi, Animal Dispensary shall remain affected on June 18 from 6 am to 10 am.
