General Manager DIC misbehaves with subordinates, employees observe pen down strike

Anantnag, Aug 19: The employees of District Industries Centre (DIC) Anantnag on Wednesday observed a pen down strike against the alleged misconduct of General Manager. They alleged that the GM slapped and misbehaved with some employees.
The employees, who didn’t work during the last two days, alleged that the officer violated code of conduct by beating and slapping employees.
Around thirty (30) employees of District Industries Centre Anantnag have filled a written compliant with Director Industries and Commerce Kashmir and sought his intervention. A copy of the compliant signed by all the 30 employees have been shared with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary Industries and Commerce.
In this compliant, a copy of which lies with Early Times, employees alleged that the conduct of DIC General Manager had ‘completely demoralized and mentally traumatized’ them.
“…as embedded in our constitution, every employee is entitled to work with dignity and honor but we are being denied as we face humiliation and mental harassment at the hand of our officer (DIC General Manager) as he misbehaves with us,” they said.
The employees continued the pen down strike against the officer till late afternoon, however on the intervention of Joint Director they called off the strike.
“Now Joint Director intervened and assured us that we will be provide safe working environment and the officer will not misbehave with is in future so we called off the strike and will resume duties from tomorrow,” an employee told Early Times over phone, however wished not be named as the employee fears the officer under whom he is working may harm him.
DIC General Manager Anantnag, Zahoor Ahmad admitted that the employees had gone strike however said that the issue has been sorted out now. “We have sorted out the issue and the employees have resumed work,” he told this newspaper.
On allegations of misconduct and misbehavior, the officer said that such things happen at work places.
