EARLY TIMES REPORT

RAJOURI, Aug 20: Intending to increase the tourist footfall of the district, the District Administration Rajouri under the supervision of the District Development Commissioner, Rajesh K Shavan is taking a slew of measures to identify and introduce virgin destinations to the outside world.
The District Administration is working on various parameters that need to be worked out for identifying new tourist destinations and building up infrastructure there to increase tourist arrivals and boost the economy of the district.
Continuing its efforts to boost the tourism sector and promote as well as exchange cultural heritage in the district, the Deputy Commissioner has invited Sheetal Khandal- a well-known actress from the Bollywood film industry on a two day tour to Rajouri.
Sheetal Khandal is known for her role in Balika Vadhu and other serials. She has also acted in a Bollywood Movie, Warrior Savitri and was part of a lot of Rajasthani Albums and Movies.
The Deputy Commissioner apprised her about the scenic beauty of twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch having several tourist spots including Satsar, Budha Amarnath, Noori Chamb, Shakkermarg, Nangali Sahib and several others.
Satsar is a group of seven lakes including Nandan Sar, Gum Sar, Kal dachni, Sukh Sar, Neel Sar, Katori Sar, and katanan or Sarota Sar
The Deputy Commissioner informed that there are several tourist destinations at the borders areas of the district also, and the District Administration has planned to hold special melas in the border belts to promote these spots.
"To ease the movement of the people in the district, especially the tourists during the evening hours, necessary guidelines for traffic restrictions in different parts of the city have been issued", he added.
"Rajouri Administration is also going to host a 2-day mega Cultural festival this month end to promote and showcase local heritage and culture and the local artists, as well as the artists from outside UT, would participate in the event", said the Deputy Commissioner.
The Deputy Commissioner said that films not only influence the destination choice but also impact the tourism industry and sought the active cooperation of the Bollywood industry in promoting the tourism sector as well as exchanging the rich cultural heritage in the district.
The team of the Bollywood industry has consented to provide all possible support to the District Administration in this regard. The Bollywood Actress…said, "During my two days tour of the district, I got a chance to see the many beautiful spots of the district. The culture here is unique and there is peace and harmony among the locals here."
She assured me that she would make a documentary on the rich cultural heritage of the district and also said that we would shoot at least two films to promote the tourist destinations here in Rajouri and Poonch.
It is pertinent to mention here that it is because of the personal efforts of the Deputy Commissioner that the Bollywood film industry is going to play its role in promoting the tourist footfall and cultural heritage of the district.
Some young entrepreneurs also interacted with the Deputy Commissioner and showed their interest to help the area by encouraging unemployed youth of the district towards income-generating activities.
