DCs forget their job, hold public darbars
Pose for photos, grievances remain unaddressed

Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 20: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has developed a new methodology to address the grievances of the public i.e. Deputy Commissioners of different districts holding public darbars.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, “DCs holding public darbars is nothing but a publicity stunt. After meeting the people photographs are taken and issued through the government run Information Department to create a notion that people are being attended and their complaints are being looked into.”
He said, “On the other hand the grievances of people published in newspapers are not even looked into. If the administration sincerely wants to address the issues of people it should look into the complaints that people register through different platforms on day to day basis.”
An observer said, “The work of the DCs is to resolve the administrative matters and to ensure that their subordinates are delivering on the field. Holding public darbars is not a part of their job. They have to make the entire system work rather than posing for photographs.” He said, “People across the Jammu region are up in arms against the administration as their grievances are not being heard. Holding public darbars just for the sake of publicity is not helping government’s cause.
