JAMMU, Aug 30: Major General Goverdhan Singh Jamwal organized a contest based on reading of books on Dogra History, Heritage and Culture.
The participants were school, college students and University scholars. During the program, Shubaindu Goswami presented the book "Gulabnama" in an analytical manner and Sahil Badyal gave a presentation on the Folk Heroes of Duggar Pradesh. Asmi Choudhary talked in detail about the Historiography of Jammu in detail while Anirudh Vikram Singh gave a presentation on "General Zorawar Singh," a book by Dr S D Charak. Charu Manhas presented a detailed view of Dogras' culture and gave presentation on "Cultural Heritage of the Dogras" written by Jyoteeshwar Pathak and Surbhi Badyal gave an insight of the rich Dogra sanskriti and gave detailed view of the book "Duggar ka Lok Sahitya" by Shiv Nirmohi.
Speaking on the occasion Gen Jamwal emphasized on the need to make the youth aware about their roots.The contestants were adjudged by Prof Suresh Chander, former IITian, Educationist and advisor to different panels on education and Prof Ajay Kumar Singh, educationist and activist from Central University of Jammu. The judges also remarked that books give us insight, wisdom and practical guidance on everything. Moreover books based on J&K will enlighten us and unearth the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Dogras. They appreciated the efforts of the organizers in coming up with such an interesting idea of bringing an awareness about Dogra History, heritage and culture.
The programme was conceived and designed by Prof Shalini Rana. The programme was conducted by Gharo Chaudhary. The program was conducted through Google Meet. Dr Neena Vij, Dr Seema Minhas, Dr Surita, Dr Sushma Chowdhary, Dr Pankaj Sharma, Dr Sonia Sharma, Adv Naresh Raina were also present during the meeting.
The winners of the contest were Shubaindu Goswami from Chandigarh and Asmi Choudhary of PresentationConvent (Ist), Charu Manhas (2nd) and Sahil Bdayal, Anirudh Vikram Singh and Surbhi Badyal (3rd). The winners were also awarded with e-certificates and cash prize.
