Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Ji’s birth anniversary awaits Govt holiday !
Join the Early Times campaign for revival of Dogra legacy

Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 30: Even though numerous promises were made, the declaration of government holiday on the birth anniversary of Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Ji on September 23 remains a distant dream. Whereas the Kashmir-centric politicians had declared holiday on the birthday of their “ beloved leader”, who never stood for one-India, the demand for holiday on Mahajara’s birth anniversary was ignored for over seven decades.
Whereas the abrogation of the so called special status of Jammu and Kashmir was supposed to end the discrimination with the allegedly neglected Dogra community, even the declaration of government holiday on Mahajara’s big day is yet to see the light of the day.
This is despite the fact that in July 2019, much before the abrogation of the so called special status, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) had passed a resolution to declare the birth anniversary of the beloved Dogra Maharaja as government holiday. A Jammu based corporator had moved the resolution and it was passed without any opposition from the Congress or independent candidates in the general house meeting, where out of 75 corporators BJP has 43 members. The resolution was sent to the then Governor Satya Pal Malik for his consent.
Till now there has been no breakthrough.
The corridors of power in Jammu and Kashmir may be dilly-dallying the demand for one reason or the other, but for the Early Times seeking revival of the Dogra legacy will remain our priority.
On this occasion, we have released a front-page an advertisement, seeking public support for the cause.
“Join us to revive Dogra legacy! Seek declaration of Government holiday on birth anniversary of Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Ji,” reads the heading of the advertisement.
“As part of our policy to fight for the revival of the Dogra legacy, we at daily Early Times have launched a fresh campaign seeking declaration of holiday on the birth anniversary of our beloved Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Ji on September 23. Join the campaign on revival of Dogra legacy by sending in write ups, one-liners, videos or images. We at Early Times will publish the same in newspaper and social media pages,” the advertisement reads further.
The esteemed readers, who want to be part of the campaign are welcome with their views.
Jai Hind !
