Early Times Report

JAMMU, Aug 30: Sarv Shakti Sanstha, J&K unit, welcomed the decision of Jammu and Kashmir government for allowing higher educational institutions with 100 percent vaccination of staff and students to open for 'limited on-site' classes in the Union Territory.
Addressing media persons here today, Rajan Gupta, President Sarv Shakti Sanstha, J&K unit, said that the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic is on the decline, and many states are slowly and cautiously lifting restrictions in phases especially the schools as onsite classes have been successfully started by ensuring COVID-19 appropriate behaviour.
The continuous closure of schools in Jammu and Kashmir has severely affected the studies of children especially those living in rural and far off hamlets as the people there do not have the modern gadgets which support online studies thus hampering the studies badly, he added.
Rajan Gupta said, "It is good that lot of population has been vaccinated in J&K and those who are above 18 can avail this facility free of cost thus making a sound ground for reopening of schools with vaccinated staff.
The fact that there is no alternative to physical class work as online studies can only provide outline of the subjects therefore government should not waste even a day and open the schools as soon as possible or else future of the children will become shaky with no knowledge to support them during testing times."
Rajan Gupta said that with vaccination of children still a distant dream there is dire need to establish special SOPs for the schools and also the implementation part should be executed in full letter and spirit so that virus remains at bay and the students can study under normal conditions.
Gupta advised parents to send their children to schools where SOPs' implementation will be the most and the chances of contracting the contagion will be minimized.
He urged the government to start offline classes with strict implementation of COVID appropriate behavior.
