One year after LG’s visit, work on AIIMS Jammu going on at snail’s pace

Jammu, Sept 9: Notwithstanding claims of the authorities, developmental work on AIIMS is going at a snail’s pace due to the casual the approach of the higher-ups towards the completion of developmental projects of Jammu province.
Today’s meeting of former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta with Union Minister, Dr. Jitendra Singh is a clear indication that the work on AIIMS is not going at a satisfactory pace. Gupta has urged Dr. Singh to expedite work on Central Government projects in J&K including prestigious AIIMS and Devika river projects.
Kavinder called on Dr. Singh at New Delhi and discussed various development-related issues and the party’s prospects on forthcoming Assembly polls in the UT of J&K.
It is important to mention here that exactly one year ago, on September 9, 2020, Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha had visited the AIIMS site at Vijaypur and inspected the pace of the ongoing construction work on the prestigious project. He directed the executing agencies to stick to the timelines to ensure the completion of work within the stipulated time frame.
The visit of Lt Governor was aimed at expediting the ongoing work during the peak of the first wave of Coronavirus in Jammu province.
The Lt Governor had enquired about the timelines set for the completion of the mega project.
He had exhorted the concerned officers of executing agencies to make sure that necessary measures are taken to ensure the quality of work and asked them to work in close coordination for timely completion of the project.
He was informed that the project with 30 months the duration was awarded on February 2020 with a stipulated date of completion is 21st August 2022.
Reports from the ground said that work is going at a snail’s pace.
