DDC Chairperson, DDCs, BDCs stage protest against Kishtwar district administration

JAMMU, Dec 7: DDC Chairperson Kishtwar Pooja Thakur along with DDC members, BDC's, Sarpanches and members of District Kishtwar today staged a protest against the district administration of Kishtwar over non-cooperative approach of administration with related to various issues, including some important public related issues.
The agitating PRIs allege that administration is not giving any ear to the issues raised by elected members of Panchayati Raj institution and are threatening and harassing the PRIs. They alleged that the situation worsened after issue came into light when ACD Kishtwar allegedly threaten a lady Sarpanch of Panchayat Pakkalan of Block Thakrai when she rose an issue of payments of watershed in her panchayat which were physically not present on ground-but payment was drawn by the ACD who also holds the additional charge of IWMP.
The DDC Chairperson said that DFO Marwah misbehaved with one of the DDC member of Palmar block and he is not paying head to any of the issues of general public raised to him. "His non serious approach towards the works of general public is creating mess among the public. Such kind of non serious approach of senior officers is highly condemnable" said DDC chairperson.
She said that few months back they also held a protest regarding this issue and even after assurances- still no progress on this front as well added that the even the payments on account of fruit bearing plants is still pending. She said that issue of recruitment of land giver/affected families is still not resolved and companies are recruiting staff from outside, around 80 percent of agriculture land is coming under the Singpura road where the local people has raised the issue of diverting the road so that minimum agriculture land comes under the project added that the issue was discussed with GM NHIDCL but he also did not paid any heed to the issues which was raised by her.
"Fire brigade should be made available in Chatroo area since various fire related incidents are happening in the area and people are facing alot of challenges due to non availability of fire brigade. Recently a temple was gutted due to short circuit in Chatroo area which could have been saved" said DDC Chairperson.
After the protest, senior officials including DC Kishtwar rushed to pacify the agitating DDC Chairperson and other PRIs. DC Kishtwar assured the agitating PRIs and DDC Chairperson that such things will not be repeated in future. DDC Chairperson called of the protest after assurance given by Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta.
