RAMNAGAR, Dec 24: To observe and celebrate National Consumer Day, NSS Unit of Govt Degree College (GDC) Ramnagar organized lecture with the theme “Consumer: Know your Rights” today as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The event was organized under the able patronship of Dr Udhey Bhanu, Principal GDC Ramnagar. The resource person and the guest of the programme were Ajay Kumar Verma, Assistant Controller Legal Meterology, Udhampur and Reeta Devi, Inspector Legal Meterology, Udhampur. The programme started with the speech of NSS Volunteers Suhani Gupta, Vidhushi Dhiman and Pritam Kumar. Then the resource person of the event Ajay Kumar Verma demonstrated the students their rights and their duties being a consumer.
He also demonstrated practically the methods to determine exact weight and expiry date of Liquified Petroleum Gas available commercially and domestically. He also explained the methods and procedures to check the validity and expiry of food articles and hallmark checklist of gold ornaments. Later the volunteers were facilitated with mementos and certificates also.
The programme was felicitated by Prof Suresh Kumar Dogra, HOD Physics and senior faculty member who also acquainted the students with their right behaviour whenever they purchase articles from market. The programme was coordinated by Prof Ritika Mahajan, HOD Chemistry and NSS PO of the college and Prof Harmeet Kour, HOD Botany, delivered vote of thanks. |
