Weekly Block Diwas held across designated places in Doda district

DODA, Jan 12: The weekly Block Diwas meetings were held across the designated places here where the general public raised several issues and officers responded and resolved their grievances, besides providing various services.
Main event of grievances redressal camp was held at Community Centre/ BDO office complex Ghat, wherein District Development Commissioner Vikas Sharma presided over the proceedings.
Several issues were brought to the notice of the District Development Commissioner. The locals demanded Additional plan under MGNREGA, Blacktopping of road from Ghat Nalla to Arnora Morh, augmentation of transformer in Sheikh Mohalla Ghat, Tile work on the streets of Ghat village, repair of Shahi Bheli Koul (Canal), restoration of tap water supply to village Shuryan & Birshala, shortage of drinking water in Shiva area and up-gradation of High School Bheli to Higher Secondary school. They also complained about low quality Solar lights provided at village Jijote,
The DDC gave a patient hearing and directed the concerned officers to redress genuine issues/ demands without further delay.
He further directed for the constitution of a Committee for area specific integrated planning to create employment avenues by pushing for Medicinal plants cultivation, agricultural/ horticultural processing units and dairy unit clusters. The committee shall comprise the officers from agriculture Department, Ayush Department, Irrigation department and Industries department.
Meanwhile, during the day long proceedings of Block Diwas as many as 54 grievances/applications were received, out of which all feasible grievances were redressed by the officers/officials of respective departments on the spot. Besides several services which included 23 category certificates, 53 Domicile certificates, 04 different revenue papers and 02 birth certificates were provided to the people on the spot. The day-long programs were held at Bhaderwah, Sub division Gandoh, Subdivision Assar, Subdivision Thathri and at BDO office Ghat, Doda.
