Early Times Report

Thathri, Jan 13: Thathri town is facing the worst drainage system in the main town and market areas from start, the first drain was created in the mid of the town alongside National Highway in 2012. But it was never managed fairly which became the main reason of blockade of this drain and till now people of Thathri are suffering a lot due to this.
A local resident Raja Shakeel says, "I have seen this blocked drain since beginning of my teenage and now I am 24, this condition is still same."
"We have requested to Municipal Committee to clean it regularly and repair the damaged area but till last year they said this is under R&B (PwD) Department and when we approach R&B Department, they told us that this drain is now under NHIDCL, now we got information that this drainage tendering responsibility has been taken by the R&B again, but nobody knows when will be work started," he added.
While a social activist Mansoor Ahmed said, "Thathri town is the busiest market in our district and a good business point but the drainage system in the town is blocked from so many years and various incidents were personally observed by me like last year a child slips into the drain and drowned half inside it but saved by locals there. Similar incidents were happened in past many time."
He added, "I think Thathri is one of most ignored town by the administration and I request higher authorities to watch this issue."
The locals keep complaining that the departments use 'go to this-there' tactics just to pass the time.
The locals thinks that this drainage system in the area is more dangerous than the Coronavirus pandemic. Because the drainage system cause more diseases which will become disasters to the people and the blockade of drainage system cause the flash floods.
